For One More Day - Mitch Albom

I would recommend this book because it has a lot of good lessons in it that you can take with you through life. It explores the question, “What would you do if you could spend one more day with the ones you love?” From start to finish you are wrapped up in this family story. When Chicks mother dies of a heart attack his life crumbles. He feels as if suddenly he is alone, no one is on his side. The family he has built, a wife and daughter, quickly falls apart with his drinking. Drinking drastically affected his life. He suddenly realizes that he has been exactly what he never wanted to be. He gives up then and decides to kill himself. This story in many ways is a ghost story. Chick travels to his home town where he climbs the water tower he once climbed as a teenager and throws himself off of it. At the bottom he opens his eyes and a little way in the distance he sees his long-dead mother. In the story you see the give and take that goes on in all families. You come away with a desire to pay closer attention to the world around you and what you have. You see how ever family has ups and downs.

A Raisin in the Sun

I think the audience should walk away with, that you should always persue your dreams. I think people should know that if you really want something to happen you can make it happen. Nothing is impossible or unrealistic. If you want something so badly it will come true. I think the message of the story is to never give up on your dreams. Everyone can have their dreams come true if they just try. I liked the story becuase it teaches you to believe in your dreams and believe that you can do anything you set your mind to.

If I recieved a check in the mail for 118,400 I would most likely put a lot of it in the bank. I would want to save most of it for college and after college when i want to but a house. No I dont think money buys happiness. I think it can to a point becuase you can by the things you love, like clothes, jewlery, electronic, etc. I also think thou money cant buy the love from your family in friends. No matter what your family will love you rich or poor. Family will always be there, money cant change that.

Night by Elie Wiesel

"You can get used to anything"This statement means there will always be a way for you to get use to something, no matter what. An example of this is when you have to move to another school and make all new friends. I think this is a good statement because it teaches you to step outside of your box or original surroundings and try something different. This reminds me of the time when I had to move houses. At first I didn't like it but I got use to it.
"You should usually follow orders." This statement means to listen to directions given by adults, teachers, etc. An example of this is in school when teachers give you directions for homework, projects and things like this. I think this is a good statement because you should obey what people tell you to do. This reminds me of the times when my mom asks me to clean my room, I obey what she says to do.
"We should all learn how to forgive, no matter what the other person did" This statement means no matter how much a person has hurt you, you should forgive them because it is the right thing to do. An example of this would be when friends get into a fight, eventually they get over it and become friends again. I think this is a good statement to stand by because it teaches you to forget the past and move on. This reminds me of all the times my sister and I would fight when we were little and how we would always get over it.

On Wiesels Night

A certain line that stands out to me is " The stench rises from the page and chokes my throat". This stands out to me because most kids today, look at reading as a boring, annoying thing to do. What the poem is trying to say is let the book speak to you. It is saying reading can be interesting and fun. You just have to open your mind and look past the reading part of it all. Read a book because it is interesting don't not read one just because it is to long .

For One More Day /Mitch Albom

What made this book interesting so far was the way the author tells Charles Benetto life story. The author uses a lot of detail and descriptive words, to explain to the reader specifically what happened. As the reader you feel like you are actual there experiencing what the main character went through, you feel the emotions he had and the pain he went through. In the book the author talks about divorce and how hard it can be on children. Charles has to go through this when his dad leaves his mom. When the mother is left on her own Charles experiences how people treat you differently and look at you differently. During this era, it wasn't okay for a mother with two children to be on her own without a man in the house. People in there neighborhood and people in town would act like there family didn't exist. In this reading you see how family separation not only affects the children but the mother too. Charles dad was a very demanding guy and if he didn't get what he wanted he would get very upset. Charles mom always stuck up for children and especially Charles. Charles being so scared of his dad would always defend his dad and leave his mom in the dust. This reading really shows how much Charles did love his mom and the effect that both parents had on his life.
