For One More Day - Mitch Albom

I would recommend this book because it has a lot of good lessons in it that you can take with you through life. It explores the question, “What would you do if you could spend one more day with the ones you love?” From start to finish you are wrapped up in this family story. When Chicks mother dies of a heart attack his life crumbles. He feels as if suddenly he is alone, no one is on his side. The family he has built, a wife and daughter, quickly falls apart with his drinking. Drinking drastically affected his life. He suddenly realizes that he has been exactly what he never wanted to be. He gives up then and decides to kill himself. This story in many ways is a ghost story. Chick travels to his home town where he climbs the water tower he once climbed as a teenager and throws himself off of it. At the bottom he opens his eyes and a little way in the distance he sees his long-dead mother. In the story you see the give and take that goes on in all families. You come away with a desire to pay closer attention to the world around you and what you have. You see how ever family has ups and downs.

  1. Sounds like an interesting plot. I almost bought it the other day for the classroom. I wasn't sure if others in the class would be into it. Do you think it's a good book worth buying?
